For technology lovers there are bargains galore and new offerings around every corner this Black Friday. Several companies are racing to get in on the tablet craze, and HP’s newest offering, the TouchPad®, may be a better starting point for new users than some of the more techno-savvy models.
About the HP Touchpad®
The TouchPad®, like its brothers, displays a ten-inch screen—much more convenient for most people than the tiny screens on smartphones. The TouchPad® offers 1024 by 768 pixel resolution, making it comparable to the iPad in clarity of visuals. The TouchPad® utilizes a dual-core processor from Qualcomm called the Snapdragon, which offers fast download and operating speeds. 1 GB of RAM makes the TouchPad®’s on-call capabilities for downloading and processing apps much faster than some of its competitors.
The most outstanding feature of the new TouchPad® is its operating system. The TouchPad® will be the first tablet to utilize the OS® operating system, the same system which operated the Palm® devices. This means that the same user-friendly apps and appearance of the Palm® handheld devices will appear in larger form on the TouchPad®. OS® may be one of the best choices in operating systems among the competition, and first-time tablet users may find it easier to operate than other interfaces.
The HP Touchpad® – Much More than just a Toy
The TouchPad® also features the Splashtop® remote program, which allows users to interface with their Windows® PC or Mac®. This program provides a way for users to truly utilize their tablets for work purposes, making it far more than simply a new tech toy.
Some Disadvantages of the HP Touchpad®
One area in which the technically astute may find fault with the TouchPad® when compared to other models is its memory capability. Currently, the TouchPad® only offers 16GB and 32GB versions, with a corresponding price difference. Its two closest competitors, the Motorola Xoom® and iPad®, begin at 32GB, and offer onboard or expandable storage up to 64GB.
The current TouchPad® offers only wi-fi connectivity, although its competitors offer a 3G version. However, the TouchPad® also has wireless charging capabilities, something its competitors do not offer. The TouchPad® is also the only tablet offering a front-facing camera for video conferencing capabilities.
You can find great deals on the upcoming HP TouchPad® at Black Friday sales in locations across the United States. Check your favorite stores’ websites to see if they are offering the TouchPad® and to take advantage of Black Friday deals. Many stores offer online coupons which you can print and take to the store or use for online shopping, and many online retailers drop prices significantly during the entire month of November.
