My Keepon Review
Automated toys are all the rage, and the U. K.’s Wow Stuff!® has a predicted winner with their newest offering, My KeepOn™. Although not yet released, this dancing robot promises to be on the 2011 Christmas best-seller list, just as last year’s Dave the Cheeky Monkey™ stormed U. S. Holiday sales.

Wow Stuff!® developed My KeepOn™ from the original Keepon designed by Japanese robot creators for use in therapy with autistic children. Realizing the potential of a smaller, cheaper version for kids of all types—the prototype sold for $30,000 – Wow Stuff!® has managed to create an affordable toy which will be under many Christmas trees this year.
The estimated retail price of My KeepOn™ will be around $50 and you can bet these will be HOT on Black Friday 2011 Sales!
Who is the Keepon designed for?
The robot is designed for children over six, and features the same yellow, snowman-shaped character featured in the original Keepon, which made a huge You Tube splash the last few years. Not only has Keepon become a You Tube phenomenon, it even has its own Facebook page. The fascination with the little yellow fellow has reached epic proportions, so the time is ripe to introduce the new toy to a waiting Holiday 2011 market.
How does the Keepon work?
With its yellow, rubbery body and big black eyes, My KeepOn™ performs in an amazing variety of ways. It is sensitive to touch, so a poke, tickle, or squeeze causes it to react in different ways. My KeepOn™ also has built-in sensors which detect the beat of music when played around it, and it will “dance” to these beats by moving its body to the rhythm. Because of these sensors, no matter what music is played, My KeepOn™ will have a unique set of movements for each song. It is powered by eight AA batteries and also has an optional electrical power cord.
My KeepOn™ will provide hours of enjoyment for both adults and children. While the toy’s actions are fairly limited, the variety of ways in which My KeepOn™ responds to touches and music make it fascinating for all ages. My KeepOn™ is destined to become one of the biggest sellers of the Christmas 2011 season from sheer novelty value, and the fascination with robotics which has emerged in the past few years.
How to get a Keepon on Black Friday?
Unlike many other “hot” toys, My KeepOn™ is not currently available in any stores, and is only available through pre-order from My Play. However, it is anticipated that the product will hit stores in time for the pre-Holiday sales, although a date is not forthcoming. In anticipation of the toy being available for Black Friday sales, a few precautions may be in order to ensure that you secure a unit prior to Christmas.
First, there will be spotty and limited quantities available in some markets, due to the lack of marketing or shipping to certain areas. If you are shopping for My KeepOn™ in stores, it will most likely be available in the larger markets around major urban areas. If you find one near you, it is wise to purchase as soon as possible, as supplies, once exhausted, may not be replenished until after Christmas.
Shopping through Black Friday sales may also bring you some success. Many merchants will place a fast-moving toy such as this one front and center for their Black Friday sales, so it is very important to arrive as early as possible to the sales. Try to target stores which are heavy in electronics; they will be more likely to have supplies of My KeepOn™ than toy retailers. Be sure to check the opening times of Black Friday stores for each one in which you are interested; stores have varying opening hours on Black Friday, and often open far earlier than regular store hours. Some stores may open as early as midnight; others may open as “late” as six a.m.
Another method of securing My KeepOn™ may be to search for Black Friday sales on the internet. You might actually be more likely to secure the unit online, given the uncertainty of its release date and shipping to the United States. Be prepared to find different dates for “Black Friday” sales from online merchants; many offer sales on Thanksgiving Day, the week prior to Thanksgiving, or even the weekend after, running into “Cyber Monday.” Finding online Black Friday sales is easy; search on the internet for the product in which you are interested and add “Black Friday” to your search. You are certain to get dozens of sites advertising your product. Beware false advertising and scammers, however; only deal with reputable online dealers. Be sure to check on online supplies, as well, before committing to ordering.
